Well, it’s been a while since I last wrote and yes, I have safely and quietly returned home in one piece.  My blog software has been updated and hopefully all my lovely photos will not crash systems and all you blog followers will be able to comment freely… that is of course, if I can maneuver the new format and not lose the entries that I try to upload (you know of course that I would not comment about that if it hadn’t already happened… a few times today).. Discouraged I am not and I will blog on!

This whole returning home thing has perhaps the same surprises that my trip had for me… all personal discoveries and growth spurts.  I am however proud to have maintained the pace that I learned to set in Spain and slow things down.  The lesson about my trip was perhaps that I need to establish a better balance in my life.  It cannot be all work/studio and I do need my time home and in doing things I enjoy.  I’m not sure how to relay that lesson to people in my life however… and maybe perhaps it’s just not a lesson for them but I would love to see my loved ones take part in a little more meaningful pleasures that life can bring.

So how have I been doing that, you may ask… well, the idea of what makes me happy may differ from yours.  I have had lots of alone time reconnecting to my apartment: washing floors, doing laundry, reading, and making granola.  Yup.  I said your idea of fun may be different.  But these are things that I knew I liked to do and wanted to do before I left however never made time so now here I am:  a domestic goddess indeed!

My nesting has not been the only thing to fill my 3 weeks since I have returned.  I have in fact, interviewed, lectured and SECURED a position at Kutztown University for the fall semester; finished a drawing entitled “Pathway” for a show here at Lehigh; worked on conference I am planning for March that involves women studies and the arts; and researched galleries for my new fabulous body of work I am about to create.  And while that all sounds pretty isolated, I have also watched Adriano paint an amazing set for Civic Theater’s production of “Parade” that ran this past weekend as well as had an “oh too short” visit with Karla who was in town after relocating to Massachusetts.

So there is much to stay tuned to on the blog, folks:  I have places to go and people to see who are all lovely and amazing.  I may not be posting everyday (because really do you want to know how much toothpaste I have left in the tube at home?) but certainly check the blog out often!  This week Iggy and I will have an afternoon of adventure and coming up this weekend is One Stone’s Exhibit at the Grail in NY.
